But we preach Christ crucified - 1 Cor 1:23

"Justifying faith rests on Christ crucified for pardon and life upon the warrant of God's promise and terminates on Him. It is not Christ in His personal excellencies, but as bleeding, and that to death, under the hand of divine justice to make atonement by God's own appointment for the sins of the world. Faith finds that Christ has made full payment to the justice of God having poured out His blood to death upon the cross. All of His previous acts of humiliation were all preparatory to this. He was born to die; he was sent into the world as a lamb bound with the bonds of an irreversible decree of sacrifice. There is no redemption but by His blood. Christ did not redeem and save poor souls by sitting in majesty on His heavenly throne, but by hanging on the shameful cross, under the tormenting hand of man's fury and God's just wrath. Therefore, the poor soul that would have pardon of sin, is directed to place his faith not just in Christ, but on a bleeding Christ, whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood (Rom 3:25)" -- William Gurnall

Drawing Near to God

As the kick off post, my entry will be simple. God is pressing into me and I feel compelled to share my journey with anyone the Spirit brings my way.

My blog title comes from Hebrews 10:19-25.

"Since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faithsince we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith"

My objective is also simple: to glorify God by sharing scripture, quotes, and meditations that God, by His grace allows to penetrate my soul.

My prayer is that the Spirit will use these meager posts to grow us all, me most of all, to mature manhood and womanhood so that we all may grow in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ.
